About Us

Located on the Eastern district of Northampton, Blackthorn is a one form entry primary school with a happy and thriving nursery. Our school has been on a journey of improvement, driven by a continuing passion to provide excellence for all the children in our community. We believe that excellence for every child begins with high-quality teaching that is carefully planned and structured around a rich and balanced curriculum from Nursery to Year 6. The children at Blackthorn are polite, respectful and keen to learn.

Our team of dedicated staff believe that children achieve their best in a safe, secure and nurturing school community and we work hard to make sure this is the case for our learners every day. We strongly believe that strong relationships between people in our school community are essential in securing success for your child, as such, an effective partnership between home and school will benefit your child’s learning.   

We are proud to be a part of Northampton Primary Academy Trust (NPAT) who support us in broadening the opportunities and experiences for our children through the curriculum and beyond. With the support of both NPAT and the Local Authority, Blackthorn Primary will be opening a high-quality specialist provision, from January 2022, that will support children with additional SEMH needs. 

It is a privilege to be the Headteacher at Blackthorn Primary. The staff and I are proud of the school that Blackthorn has evolved to become through the hard work and determination of our school community to provide the best for every child.
